Antalya Turkish Bath: A Relaxing and Authentic Experience

If you're looking for a unique and authentic experience during your visit to Antalya, then a Turkish bath or hammam is a must-try. A Turkish bath is a traditional cleansing and relaxation ritual that has been practiced for centuries in Turkey and other parts of the Middle East. It's a great way to unwind and rejuvenate after a long day of sightseeing or hiking.

The Turkish bath experience usually starts with a warm-up session in a heated room called the "sicaklik." You'll be given a towel and a pair of slippers to wear before entering the sicaklik. The temperature in the room is usually around 40-50 degrees Celsius, and the humidity is high. This helps to open up your pores and prepare your body for the next phase of the ritual.

After spending some time in the sicaklik, you'll move on to the "kurna," where you'll be washed and scrubbed by a professional masseur or masseuse. They'll use a special soap made from olive oil and herbs to cleanse your body and exfoliate your skin. The scrubbing can be quite intense, but it's also very invigorating and leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth.

Next, you'll move on to the "gobek tasi," which is a large heated marble slab. You'll lie down on the slab and relax while your masseur or masseuse gives you a gentle massage. This is a great way to relieve any muscle tension and stress.

Finally, you'll end the Turkish bath experience with a cool-down session in a room called the "sogukluk." This room is usually decorated with beautiful tiles and has a relaxing atmosphere. You'll be given a cup of tea or water to help you rehydrate and cool down after the hot and steamy experience.
